Mathias Jewell was the third child of John Jewell and Mary Jenkins, and was baptised on the 2nd September 1764, in the Parish of Wendron.

A search of the I.G.I., has discovered that Mathias Jewell married Martha Reynolds on the 5th October 1796, in the Parish of Wendron, Cornwall. I have not at this stage determined whem Martha was born/baptised, or who her parents were. I do however know that Mathias and Martha had 2 children. They were;

Elizabeth Jewell	- baptised 27th August 1797
Mary Jewell	- baptised 26th February 1804

According to initial research I have completed, it seems that Mathias and Martha moved to the Parish of Illogan, which lies just to the north of Wendron. This was most likely because of employment.
